On Tuesday, March 5th, a conference was held in Belgrade, marking the end of the four-year regional project Action for Reducing Inequalities in Education (ARISE). The aim of the project is to support the education of students from families of low socio-economic status.
The project is implemented by eight civil society organizations from the region of the Western Balkans and Turkey, and in addition to the Centre for Education Policy, which is the project's bearer in Serbia, the Education Centre from Leskovac was also involved in the project, as well as five primary schools – “Vožd Karađorđe” from Leskovac, "8. oktobar" from Vlasotince, "8. septembar" from Pirot, "Heroj Ivan Muker" from Smederevska Palanka and "Vuk Karadžić" from Ćuprija.
At the conference, Snežana Vuković, PhD, addressed participants via video message on behalf of the Ministry of Education, a panel on the projects' importance from the perspective of various partners was held, the project key results were presented and the thank you notes were awarded to the schools that participated in the project. Prof. Dragica Pavlović Babić from the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade discussed the results of the PISA 2022 research from the perspective of the fairness of the educational system and influence on students’ achievements, and at the very end of the conference, the Charter of Advocacy for the Equal Right to Education for every child was adopted.
Action for Reducing Inequalities in Education (ARISE) is a regional project that was implemented in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey in the period from 2020 to 2024 and was financed by the European Union.
