The Open Method of Coordination in Education and Training – web site launched

13 November 2014

Within the Programme: Participation of Serbia in the Open Method of Coordination (OMC) in Education and Training website http://www.omk-obrazovanje.gov.rs/ was launched. This is the place where all interested parties can find relevant information about OMC in education and training, at the EU level and in the Republic of Serbia.

The programme OMC in Education and Training was initiated by the Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia.

In April 2014, Serbia was invited by the European Commission to nominate representatives to participate in the work of the thematic working groups: 1) Adult Learning, 2) Modernisation of Higher Education, 3) Digital and On-line Learning, 4) School Policy (with focus on Early School Leaving and Teacher Education), 5) Vocational Education and Training, and 6) Transversal skills.

Open Method of Coordination (OMC) is an instrument of the European Union, which ensures harmonisation of the so-called "soft law" among EU member states. By participating in the EU OMC, the Republic of Serbia demonstrates its willingness and commitment to participate and actively contribute to mechanisms of European cooperation available before its formal membership.

Center for Education Policy provides expert and administrative support in the implementation of initiative, together with the Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit, project "Support Human Capital Development and Research – General Education and Human Capital Development" - IPA 2011 and TEMPUS Office.
